Biography

The Sculptor Simões was born in 1959 in Maputo the capital of Mozambique. In 2012 he completed the pre- University level of Electro-technics at the Maputo Industrial  Institute in Mozambique . He was Technical Assistant of Graphic Industry at the Ministry of Information  between  1981/87 in Maputo. He falls in love with Sculpture through contacts with Alberto Chissano – the  Mozambican Sculptor Master and via visiting exhibitions  at the Paraíso African Gallery  as well. Simoes at the beginning as an   autodidactic artist, he started with his carrier in 1977. in 1987 he exclusively dedicates himself  on carving . He participated in several collective exhibitions  in Mozambique and abroad : South Africa ,Angola, Portugal,  Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, just to mention some countries. Carlos Ferreira Simoes, is his official name , he has been artistically represented  in the National Art Museum in Maputo, particular collection,  public and private Institutions . He is an affective member of Nucleo de Arte- Mozambican  Association as a visual artist since 1978 in Maputo and he made part of the Managing Board of the same Association in 2005/7, he is also member of the Kulungwana  Managing Board Association  since 2014 and effective  member as an artist.
